“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup;

you have made my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

surely I have a delightful inheritance.” 

Psalm 16: 5-6

Based on the above passage, these two pieces are a reflection on being not only contented, but happy, in a simple life. My husband and I collaborated on these, finding the topic very relevant in our life together. We created them using the “pass-the-piece method” in which person A puts an image to paper, and without telling person B the meaning behind it or discussing motivation in any way, person B must then add an element in their response to the theme. After passing back and forth this way, a composition inadvertently emerges from two people’s point of view on the same topic.
